Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
Wednesday April 1st, 2026
In the morning there was a little free time with the usual table activities, puzzles and creative play. Friends eased into the day with drawing, building and working together on small tasks, creating a calm and positive start.
As the new month has begun, our theme is Our Planet. During circle time we focused on how we can protect our planet and care for the environment. The children were introduced to the ideas of reduce, reuse and recycle, and we talked about why each of these is important. Together we sorted different actions into the correct categories, helping everyone understand how small everyday choices can make a big difference.
After circle time we headed out to the park early to beat the rain. K made some new friends and enjoyed a lively game of dodgeball, while other friends played cops and robbers, chase and tag. It was a fun and active time outdoors before the weather changed.
Later in the afternoon we had science class, where we continued our discussion on reduce, reuse and recycle. The class explored the recycling process in more detail, talking about what materials can be recycled, how they are processed and how recycling helps the environment. We then watched a video showing the real life recycling process, which helped bring the topic to life.
To finish off the day and continue our theme, we had an art class where we began a large paper mache project. Using a space hopper as the base, the children worked together to layer paper and paste to start forming our planet Earth. Everyone took part, carefully adding pieces and watching the shape begin to take form, ready to be painted in future lessons.
It was a meaningful and hands on Wednesday, full of teamwork, creativity and environmental awareness, leaving everyone feeling proud to be taking small steps to care for our planet.
